Farm Happenings for October 5, 2020

Posted on October 2nd, 2020 by Tim Vrieselaar

We are enjoying a beautiful Autumn!! I can not ever remember such a long fall, such mild days, such beautiful weather...I keep wondering how much longer it will last? And the kids are loving being able to spend so many hours outside yet!! Jesse was pretty proud of his cabbage hat....I just had to share that sweet happy face:)

Do you remember 2019?? We had lots of snow already by this time!  And harvest was nigh impossible!  We are so thankful for the opportunity to bring in the harvest.  And that is what we are spending many hours on right now.  It a non stop job of digging, sorting, washing, packaging and filling up the cooler.  And even tho we have fewer crops...we are still certainly not at a slow time on the farm yet.

This weeks is our THANKSGIVING DELIVERY>  we have the regular box as it is in other weeks...but this week you will have the opportunity to swap for larger bags of produce.  So if you are having family over for dinner....you can get big bags of potatoes and carrots, etc.  The price will adjust automatically for you so there is no extra worries.

With Thanksgiving being on Monday = = Lethbridge delivery will be on Friday afternoon  October 9 - instead of Thanksgiving Monday.   Please mark your calendars!

This week the basket contains lots of items for a delicious dinner - potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, tomatoes, peppers, cukes, leek and squash.  As you can tell...we have arrived at Fall baskets.  But in good news...the beans in the greenhouse are flowering and there are tiny little 1 inch beans on the plants. ....we might get late fall beans yet!

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We have all had a very stressful spring and summer with the extra turmoil in the world...but we are thankful that we have been spared from the virus and were able to grow our crops to the best of our ability.  We have had a great growing season (other than the hail storm in August) and we are thankful that we were able to share the produce with you.  We do miss seeing you each week....and we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
