Summer Solstice and scapes 2022
Grandmother moon waxed large for the Strawberry moon a week ago. Now Summer solstice greets us with the longest daylights of the year.
Asparagus season is almost over, and we now begin pruning the tomatoes and cucumbers. Tomatoes and cukes will be trained up strings in the high tunnels. Squas1 read more »

sticky fieldwork, accompanied by ducks, early June 2022
At press time we're grateful for rain Monday night. We planted sweet potatoes, turnips and kohlrabi on Saturday, and they appreciate the moisture. It will be sticky fieldwork, accompanied by ducks, until the fields dry up a bit again.

About the farm
A decentralised urban farm in downtown Kingston Ontario, Main Street Market Urban Farm has been run by co-farmers Tim & Tracy Lyon since 2009. We grow vegetables and mushrooms on several city centre plots. And, we also grow the connection between eaters and farmers, eaters and the earth. We fell in love with farming and the food we grow when we tasted the fruit straight from the field. You can get it delivered right to your door by bicycle! Our growing methods follow organic principles in our intensive, market-garden style beds.
