We've grown lots of potatoes and they're all set for you to stock up ready for the holidays and new year. Now is the time to fill your pantry before we, and you also, take a break. And, we've got our onions back on the list this week so you can expect them in your share again now. We mostly have red, but there are some white ones too.
Garlic is now available in 3 varieties, and in winter format - braids and loose. The 3 varieties available are Music, Fish Lake and Azores. Music is the mildest and features large cloves, about 5-6 per head. It is almost entirely white, and is a very common garlic, the relation of much of the stuff you find in grocery stores. Fish Lake has a bolder flavour but smaller cloves, so you'll find 6-10 cloves per head. Azores is the most recent addition to our garlic family, and has a zestier flavour than Music, but a similar clove size, featuring 4-7 cloves per head. Get some of all 3 if you like, so you can sample the different flavours.
On the farm we are re-organizing the barn, finishing grading and boxing the garlic for storage, braiding garlic and making ferments such as kimchi and kraut. Soon we'll be turning to stock taking and preparing 2023 seed orders.
