Farm Happenings for June 30, 2022

Posted on June 25th, 2022 by Timothy Lyon

Fleur d'ail

We're excited to have harvested most of the garlic scapes this week. Harvesting curly scapes off the top of the plants gives us a good view of garlic development and pest-pressure. The fleur d'ail is a fabulous first taste of this season's garlic. Some of you pickle and preserve your scapes for mid-Winter treats. Other ways to use them include fine-chopped in a sandwich, sauteed, or in pesto.

Our biggest task this week is rolling out a more extensive irrigation system than ever. We'll increase moisture levels across the farm during dry periods such as this. At present, several of our crops have stunted growth due to lack of water.

Box Cleaning

When you pick up your share, you'll find cloths and spray bottle of cleaning solution for your use. Please give it a wipe down so we can pack your veggies into a clean bin. Take a clean cloth each time, and discard used ones in the "Dirty Cloths" container for us to launder. This is new this week for Sunday shares picked up at the Barn.

Reschedule or Hold a Delivery

We know some of you will be away this Summer and you might need to Reschedule or Hold or Skip a delivery - here's how.
