Summer Solstice and scapes 2022

Posted on June 20th, 2022 by Timothy Lyon

Grandmother moon waxed large for the Strawberry moon a week ago. Now Summer solstice greets us with the longest daylights of the year.

Asparagus season is almost over, and we now begin pruning the tomatoes and cucumbers. Tomatoes and cukes will be trained up strings in the high tunnels. Squash have their male flowers removed and are having the row covers removed for pollination. Garlic is having scapes removed, and you'll get those in your share this week - fleur d'ail! Try some in pesto (skip the nuts as needed), or grilled, or pickle and preserve them for Winter munchies.

We hope you are loving your veggies so far. If you have any questions or feedback, please get in touch using the contact form or on 613.876.3125. We want you to get the right amount of everything you love fresh from our farm, and we need you to let us know how everything is going.
