Farm Happening for Week of August 25, 2022

Posted on August 22nd, 2022 by Emily Tzeng

Welcome to Week 13! It looks like a hot week ahead, but I can feel fall creeping into the edges of the days, and I am definitely looking forward to it! Field planting is basically wrapped for the season, with the exception of a little bit of salad and spinach. We are spending the week diligently weeding everything we planted this month and hoping to find the first ripe melon (we will keep you posted.)

We are also getting the barn ready to hold all of the (heavy) storage crops like onions, shallots, potatoes, squash, daikon, etc. Like our friends at Flying Coyote Farm in Oregon say, the coming of fall is like getting asked to bench press 100 pounds after running a marathon all summer. May our backs stay strong, but we are excited to bring so much good food in for the darker months of the year!

Lastly, garlic braids are back! If you would like to order one, please reply back or send an email and we hook you up! Our garlic braids sell out every year (between local markets and shipping nationwide) and we like to offer our CSA members the first pick. Braids are $50 and each one is unique!
