Farm Happenings for October 13, 2020

Posted on October 12th, 2020 by Emily Tzeng

Welcome to the official first week of the Fall CSA!

As cooler and rainier weather moves in, we are definitely saying good bye to all of our summer crops. Now is your last chance for preserving quantities of peppers and hot peppers! Peppers freeze easily and we use them all winter in soup, curry, and stir fries. I also usually make a big jar of fermented hot sauce and a batch of pepper jelly to use until next summer. Please email me if you are interested in bulk quantities.

This Monday is Indigenous People's Day. We are very fortunate to be farming on the unceded land of the Puyallup Tribe. This land has been stewarded far longer by indigenous people and we hope to be good neighbors for as long as we are here.

This week we are planning on watching the film Gather. Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide. This is available to stream on iTunes and amazon, and I am really looking forward to it.
