Welcome to Week 2! Thanks being patient with us as we get accustomed to our new system! Apologies for any mix ups last week, but this week will hopefully run a lot more smoothly. Just a reminder that eggs are available to add on to your boxes when you customize or add on to your shares!
As the farm cruises into early summer, more crops are on deck each week! The garlic crop is quickly ripening and we are about to start seeding fall crops this week, like cauliflower and broccoli, and just tucked 400 sweet potato plants into the ground. This is the last week for green garlic, but the first big week for garlic scapes!
The "Asian Greens" available right now is komatsuna, a Japanese spinach mustard. This green is tasty stir fried, especially when served with eggs. As an API owned farm, we love growing Asian heritage vegetables and introducing these crops to others.
It is impossible not to acknowledge the events of the past two weeks. Black Lives Matter is a non-negotiable statement for our farm and family. We are actively working to support black led organizations and black owned farms. Please join us in donating to the Black Food Sovereignty Coalition, who organizes Back to the Root, a regional black grower conference in Portland, OR. It is so important for farmers to connect with other farmers and we are privileged to monetarily assist growers to attend such a conference.
