Fall 2023 Farm Stand Offering #4
Things are winding down at the farm for the winter. Harvesting the last of the winter crops like broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards, lettuce, carrots and onions. We will be planting garlic this week and cleaning up empty beds to plant cover crops like rye grass.

Monday I was on a field trip with my granddaughter Riley at Penton Farm, afterwards we drove to Montevallo and harvest grapefruits to offer to our members this week. We had a rough start to our Fall Session plantings but we are finally ready to harvest for our first week! It's cucumber season! We are harvesting lots of pickling cucumber so pull out your refrigerator or canning recipe for pickles! We love cucumbers and made some yummy cucumber salads with our slicers!

About the farm
Joy Haven Farm is a small Certified Naturally Grown market farm located in Shorter, AL, just north of Montgomery. We are entering our ninth growing season and strive for sustainability. We are currently offering Spring/Summer and Fall Farm Stand Session that includes our fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit. Add-ons such as eggs, yogurt, granola, coffee and meat from a neighboring sustainable farm can be delivered with each weeks share. We also provide seasonal vegetables to a number of local restaurants. We are thankful for what we have been entrusted with and will never use pesticides, insecticides, synthetic fertilizers or gmo seeds. Our goal is to leave our little piece of this world better than we found it.
