Monday I was on a field trip with my granddaughter Riley at Penton Farm, afterwards we drove to Montevallo and harvest grapefruits to offer to our members this week. Picking citrus at our friends farm in the Fall is now a family tradition, one that is so rewarding! We love teaching our grandchildren where food comes from and watching their faces light up when helping harvest them off the trees. The grapefruits are a bit smaller than last years so we will be putting either 2 large or 3 smaller in each order. These are a pink grapefruit and extremely sweet.

About the farm
Joy Haven Farm is a small Certified Naturally Grown market farm located in Shorter, AL, just north of Montgomery. We are entering our ninth growing season and strive for sustainability. We are currently offering Spring/Summer and Fall Farm Stand Session that includes our fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit. Add-ons such as eggs, yogurt, granola, coffee and meat from a neighboring sustainable farm can be delivered with each weeks share. We also provide seasonal vegetables to a number of local restaurants. We are thankful for what we have been entrusted with and will never use pesticides, insecticides, synthetic fertilizers or gmo seeds. Our goal is to leave our little piece of this world better than we found it.
