Farm Happenings for first week of November

Posted on November 2nd, 2019 by Jenny Jackson

Her affinity for worms is still going strong this week.

We are still waiting for some of the popular cool season crops to come in- spinach, beets and carrots- these are things that we just couldn't get established when it was still in the upper 90s into the beginning of October so we planted later than usual. All three crops are looking good and should be ready by late November/ early December. Until then, we'll be supplementing the many greens that are growing abundantly here with some things we don't grow, like Asian Persimmons. We actually do have some persimmons that we grow here, but we (Tulsi) eat most of those so we buy more from Randle Farms in Auburn. We have 4 trees, he has 60!

More apples coming your way too, plus an abundance of pastured eggs from White Oak Pastures (South Ga), Stone Ground Grits and Cornmeal (Freshly Ground!) from Riverview Farms (North Ga), and maybe more variety from other local farms. Unfortunately I couldn't find any local butternut squash this season. We stopped growing this crop here because the yields have been so low in recent years due to pest pressure, and it takes up a lot of space.

Thanks for your patience on veggie variety as we work within the confines of nature to provide an abundance of Certified Naturally Grown produce for you!!
