CSA Week #3-A

Posted on June 2nd, 2021 by Bonnie and Rudy Geber

Hi All! It's week #3 and it's time to customize your shares! So pop into your Harvie profile to switch and swap to your heart's content or to order extras from our awesome local producer partners (Gracious Table, Miller Farm eggs, McLaury Apiaries, Dragon's Breath Farm), we'll feature another one of them below! So our intent with these Farm Happenings is to give you guys a good feel for what's going on with the farm each week. We intend to update them with the customization email and then again for the pick up reminder email. BUT, every once in awhile, we'll finalize the delivery for the week before we've updated the Farm Happening and it goes out with the same one...oops! That's what happened last week!

A lot IS happening on the farm right now. We're in the final stages of the big Spring push to plant with large blocks of crops like winter squash and melons still waiting to go in. But once we pass that hurdle, we'll be into full blown summer mode, where we shift our focus more towards harvesting as many of our long season crops start to come online. Things are growing faster and faster every day (weeds included!) and we will really see a major increase in the week to come with warm sunny days following all of the rain we've been getting.

We want to remind everyone, that you are welcome to change your pick up location for a given week if you'd like. We offer farmers market pickup (Thursdays 3-6:30) and on farm pick up (Fridays 2-5). CSA members are also welcome to just come out to the farm to say hi, ask questions, or just see where your produce is grown during our pick up window. We've always got a project that we're working on, but this year it's a priority for at least one of us to always be around and available on Friday afternoons - sort of like 'hosted open farm hours'!

Last week we featured the Miller Farm's egg-cellent add-ons. This week, we'd like to spotlight Mandy Bell and the Gracious Table for their delicious breads and bagels that we have available to add on to your produce boxes. The website says it best... The Gracious Table focuses on interactive experiences, whether hosting a meeting, teaching cooking classes, catering private events, baking bread for local coffee shops or the Farmer's Market or Take Home Meals. Mandy Bell has created a place where guests come as strangers and leave as friends. We love being able to offer the GT's delicious breads and bagels to you guys and hope you'll give them a try this season or you won't know what you're missing. Bonnie's favorite is the everything bagels for breakfast the day after the market! See more about Mandy and the Gracious Table.

Reminder: These farm happenings can also be found on Harvie in case you miss one or would like to see what's going on during your off weeks.
