Farm Happenings for June 22 and 24, 2021

Week 6

Hello friends!  We are half way through our summer season!  Important note..... Our summer season is 12 weeks and will end at the end of July; HOWEVER, we may add an additional week or two the first and second week of August if we still have plenty of produce coming in - especially our melons!  We don't want you to miss out on those sweet babies!  We will know better in July whether we plan to add an additional week or two, so stay tuned and be sure to read your emails!

Our fall season will start the last week of September so that will give us about a four to six week gap between seasons.  Please note that we will not deliver any produce in August (except those optional additional weeks) or the first three weeks of September.  This is normally a very hot, dry time of the year and we prefer to use this time to get ready for the fall season.  If you signed up for the full season (16 weeks) then you can sit tight and wait for the fall season to start.  If you signed up for the summer season and would like to add on the fall season - you will be able to do that as well, just watch for the fall season email!

One last housekeeping item, please remember that our pick up locations are hosted by some very fabulous folks.  Many of our host have been with us for years and years.  They are the backbone of this CSA and enable us to reach so many different locations in middle Tennessee.  Without them, we would be very limited in our scope and reach.  Please be sure and tell your hostess how much you appreciate their dedication and support!  We would also ask that you be sure and pick up your farm share within the allotted time frame.  Many of our host are allowing us to use their personal residence as a pick up site. Please respect their personal time and space by picking up your share during the set pick up window.  We realize that life happens and things can pop up, but our policy is, if your share is not picked up during the allotted time frame, we will donate your share to a family in need.  Farm shares are perishable - and required a lot of time to plant, tend, pick, pack and deliver.  We do not want to see any of this food wasted, if possible.  If your host makes accommodations for you to pick up at a later time, please don't abuse their graciousness.  Not responding to text messages or phone calls to let us know that you are going to be late will also result in your box being donated.  Our desire is to bring a beautiful, fresh picked box of produce to your family, but if it sits out overnight - or even late into the night, the produce will start to break down and you will not be receiving our desired impact or goal - fresh, delicious food!  Please strive to pick up your share promptly!  Your hostess will appreciate it and so will your box of food!  :)  ***Please note that this is happening at many locations and is not directed at any one person!  :)

You will be happy to know that the tomatoes should start coming in over the next two weeks or so!  We can hardly wait!  The sweet corn is about two-three weeks out as well. I don't know about you, but when the tomatoes and corn start rolling in, it's officially summer time!
