Farm Happenings for June 15, 2021

Posted on June 12th, 2021 by Stephanie Bradshaw

Hi Friends,

This week on the menu:  Potatoes, Broccoli, cabbage, zucchini, yellow squash, lettuce, onions, radishes, garlic and kale.  Those of you who love swiss chard, beet greens and kohlrabi should see those items available too!  Our tomatoes are still green, but they are doing well and we look forward to seeing them in the farm shares in the near future!

Farming is not an exact science and the weather affects so much of what we do and the condition that the produce is in.  Remember to put your produce in the fridge as soon as possible.  If there is excess moisture in the bags with the potatoes, broccoli, herbs, etc - be sure and put them into a dry bag to keep them from breaking down.  We normally will put a paper towel in a plastic bag with the lettuce and we put the potatoes into a dry bag and store in the fridge as well.

We plan to have our annual Family Farm Day in late October or early November.  As soon as we pinpoint a date we will let you know~!  Be sure and make plans to attend - it's always a wonderful time!
