Farm Happenings for June 29, 2021

Week 7

We are zooming right through our summer season!  This week we have some new items on the harvest report!  We are excited to see more and more of the summer produce coming in each week.  Some of our early tomatoes are ripening, so if you are lucky enough to receive those in your share....consider yourself a veggie lotto winner this week!  :)  Our picking packs have been a big hit for those of you who like to make refrigerator pickles.

Just a reminder that the celery is not like the celery you find at the store.  It is more of an herb...we use it to flavor soups, casseroles, or a stir-fry.  It adds a wonderful flavor. We have about 30lbs of carrots this week....please don't judge us on our carrots.  They are not the prettiest veggies that we grow, but they do taste delicious!

We are adding some acorn squash to the farm shares this week.  This particular squash was not grown on our farm, but instead by Mrs. Brubaker's brother, Andrew.  We are thrilled that he and his family are making the transition to growing organically.  Please know that they are in the transitioning phase.  These squash were grown with untreated seeds and have not been sprayed with any pesticides.  We are so happy that another family is seeing the benefits of growing without chemicals.  Please know that we will always make you aware if we put anything into the shares that is not from our farm.  You always have the option to swap it out!  :)

We are counting down the days until the corn is ready.  We should see that by next week and the tomatoes will start to pick up soon as well.  Sweet peppers are also on the horizon along with cantaloupes and watermelons!  Get ready for some yummy food heading your way!
