Growings On 3/19/19

Posted on March 18th, 2019 by Kirsten Simmons

This is the time of year when farm life explodes.  I'm currently writing from my bedroom, because after having worked I'm not sure how many 10-12 hour days in a row, I decided to turn off my alarms and sleep for 14 hours.

Over the past two weeks we have:

-Planted peas, beans, tatsoi, lettuce, beets, carrots, broccoli raab, collards, kale, chard, and any number of other things I've forgotten

-Spent a lot of time training with Luna and Beau

-Prepped the rows for strawberries, spread two loads of wood chips in the walkways

-Prepped potatoes for planting

-Continued to care for the birds, pigs and chicks

-Mostly cleared out the giant pile of old drip tape and landscape plastic that previous farmers left behind our brooding shed

-Moved the compost pile to prepare for a new composting setup

And probably some other things that I'm forgetting.  :D
