Growings on 9/30/19

Posted on September 30th, 2019 by Kirsten Simmons

After six long weeks, it finally, finally rained!! Of course it had to happen after I spent three hours lugging water to the fruit trees, but a half inch of rain is worth so much more than my standing over a tree with a hose for five minutes.

This week is the final big push for getting the last of the fall beds prepped and planted, plus preparing for the crew coming in next week to help with the strawberries.  We're going to weed the field, fill in the rest of the landscape fabric and make sure the irrigation is working properly.  Then I'll drive up to NC to pick up the strawberries and we'll put them in the ground!

The pumpkin sale also kicks off on Saturday, with the arrival of a full tractor trailer load of pumpkins from the Navajo nation.  If you want to come lend a hand between 9 and 3, we will love you forever and send you home with a pumpkin :D
