I hope everyone else had a better start to their week than we did at the farm! With all the rain this big oak fell across the road to get to the farm early Monday morning, knocked power out when it fell. Then once we got it all cleaned up I had two delivery trucks get stuck in the mud, and of cours1 read more »

The rainbow chard that we were able to cover is finally starting to get big enough again to harvest. This is one of my favorite things to grow (and eat) because of how beautiful it looks in field. The row covers prevented the cold from killing this plot, and now after a few weeks its back big enoug1 read more »

In the farming industry in South Louisiana, a forecast that looks like this weeks is something you never wanna see, but it is part of farming that we can not control. We will be draining everything, protecting as many of the exposed pipes that we can, covering what plots we can, winterizing all tru1 read more »

Looking like we are going to have some cold weather moving in and possibly sticking around for a while. We have been stretching out our cloth covers and filling sandbags to get ready for it! One of the things that I try to do is get the 4 to 5 plantings of braising greens(Kale/Chard/Collards) big e1 read more »

Romanesco is coming in well and it is beautiful! My kids always call it Christmas trees when we cook it, as they eat it up better than most winter veggies. Weird weather patterns have made some things slow down and others seem to do better with it, but that's Louisiana weather for you. We have a go1 read more »
