I hope everyone else had a better start to their week than we did at the farm! With all the rain this big oak fell across the road to get to the farm early Monday morning, knocked power out when it fell. Then once we got it all cleaned up I had two delivery trucks get stuck in the mud, and of course the fog and soaking rain isn't good for all of our crops! That is how it goes sometimes though, I should have known considering we planted potatoes on Friday & Saturday. It never fails, when we plant our Spring crop of new potatoes (red & gold) it is guaranteed to rain, rain, and keep raining! :) We will get through it and keep pushing, hoping to start seeing some new crops show up soon.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
