It was another scorcher this past week. Days that require pacing oneself, taking plenty of breaks, and eating a lot of popsicles and milkshakes... or watermelons and cantaloupes are good too. Luckily, scattered showers provided lovely moments of relief for all of us on the farm. We were able to plant 5 beds of lettuce and Italian greens that have been covered with shade cloth and will feed us in the coming months. The greenhouse is completely full of fall seedlings including cabbage, kohlrabi and more. The tomatoes and peppers are thriving in the heat, which means it's a perfect time to make fresh tomato sauce and salsa.  We're also excited to be sending you fennel for the next few weeks. Try it raw in a salad paired with a citrus or roasted with onions and carrots. Hopefully all these delicious ingredients have you cooking up a storm this summer. What are the best recipes you've tried using our veggies? Send any recipe suggestions our way to info@caneyforkfarms.com!
