Farm Happenings for August 19, 2020

Posted on August 14th, 2020 by Lorien Carsey

Good Friday afternoon everyone.

These beautiful cool days are great for salad and not great for ripening of tomatoes. We haven't hit full stride in field tomatoes thanks to the weather, but it's just a delay, not a loss. As soon as they are in full swing, we will have more heirlooms to put in the boxes.

Sorry to all who ordered Anaheims last week. Confirmation bias led me to misidentify unripe Carmen peppers as Anaheims as they were in the spot where I thought I had planted them. After tasting many, we determined that they were too sweet for Anaheims.

We're putting some superhot Serrano peppers into the extras category for those of you hotheads out there.  Cherry bombs and Krimzon Lee's are coming soon.

Here's a pic of this week's 270lb donation to the food bank. We brought them lots of eggplant, zuccini, some greens and some peppers. Good Job Everyone!

Here's a pic of Cindy doing her job at the edge of a field that I was just about to till in.

Thanks for all your support and good eating.
