Farm Happenings for July 3, 2019

Posted on June 26th, 2019 by Lorien Carsey

The sweet tastes of summer are here! We finally are able to offer a few tomatoes next week in your boxes. We have both heirloom tomatoes and red tomatoes. Each year we try a few new varieties on the farm and I really like our new variety Tomimaru Mucho. It is a pink tomato with green shoulders. If you attend the market you have likely seen it and asked about it's flavor. It's a very sweet tomato!

Lorien has finally been whisked away for a well-deserved vacation leaving the mice to play on the farm. One of our employees, on his day off, baked us a fresh mixed berry pie and brought us ice cream as a refreshing treat. Our employees are the best! We have been taking advantage of the dry weather by staking our tomatoes, preparing our next cucumber greenhouse and slaying weeds on the tractor. In the next couple weeks we will be harvesting onions and garlic so you will start seeing those available soon!

Enjoy this week's bounty from the farm!
