Farm Happenings for April 18, 2020

Posted on April 13th, 2020 by Lorien Carsey

We are starting to ramp up for the spring. We got two of our greenhouses planted in tomatoes. Onions, kale, chard, collards, broccoli, kohlrabi, peas, beets, potatoes and cabbage are planted in the field. This week starts our second planting of onions, cabbage and broccoli. We have been doing our weekly outdoor plantings of lettuce plus harvesting, delivering and prepping for future plantings. As the weather conditions rapidly change we are trying to fit in moving our last greenhouse of the season as well as tilling and prepping beds for our summer plantings. we are ready to get back to the warmer weather with less wind out here.

As for this weeks available vegetables, we are down to small baby beets but have lots of napini! We are also adding beet greens to this week's options. Carrots will now be a mix of yellow, purple and orange carrots. Chard, kale, collards, spinach, braising mix, baby kale are still available.

We hope to have more information regarding the outdoor summer farmer's market and as soon as we know what will be happening we will pass info along. You may also be asking yourself if we are growing plant starts this year. The answer is YES! Whether we have an outdoor market or not we will be selling our organic vegetable starts to fill your gardens.
