Farm Happenings for June 19, 2019

Posted on June 14th, 2019 by Lorien Carsey

I had a question come up from one of our members this week regarding swapping items. There is no charge for swapping items if those items are the same price. If you swap a kohlrabi for tomatoes, your card will be charged the difference because tomatoes are worth more than kohlrabi.

We are nearing the end of broccoli which is something I always mourn. I LOVE fresh broccoli and making broccoli cheese soup. I love to eat broccoli raw. Broccoli will make a grand return in fall so I can get my next round of fresh broccoli again. This is likely the last week of sugar snap peas as well. I could write a novel about my love for peas but I won't bore you with that. You should start seeing cucumbers, summer squash and tomatoes soon!

This week, our fearless field manager was able to get beds tilled and shaped for our fall plantings and our further lettuce plantings. I don't know when she had a day off due to the windows of times that are free from rain but she perseveres!

This week, some of the new things we are offering are basil and cabbage. We hope you are enjoying your boxes!
