Farm Happenings for May 14, 2019

Posted on May 10th, 2019 by Cathy Shepherd

What a week!! This past week was insanely busy and fun! Not only did we have an amazing first week of our CSA program, but we were also able to get the vast majority of our summer planting done! We now have roughly 1,100 tomatoes planted in the greenhouses, some of which already have tiny baby tomatoes, and another 800 tomatoes in the fields. Plus about 600 Okra plants and 1/4 of an acre of  summer squash. In another two weeks we are hoping to be able to harvest about 20-30# of spring mix a week and the outside kales should be big enough to harvest. Our Broccoli plants are doing something a little crazy though. They are only about 6 inches tall, but they are already starting to put on heads, but don't get too excited yet, they are only about the size of a quarter. We have some beautiful Napa Cabbages that are starting to form heads and we have harvested a total of 7 Zucchinis from the greenhouses.  It's going to be a good year!!!!
