Farm Happenings for September 24, 2019

Posted on September 20th, 2019 by Cathy Shepherd

It's almost Fall!!! Monday officially starts fall and we are so excited!! It's time to start thinking about seeding one last crop, usually radishes or turnips, in the fields before cover cropping them for winter. We have already started to rip tomato and pepper plants out of the greenhouses to make room for kales and other late fall and winter crops. I really want to try seeding peas in there for the winter and try to get a fall crop of greens, I know we haven't head any green beans this summer, first due to weed pressure and then to the lack of rain. But I think we can definitely have a late fall crop with the help of our greenhouses!  Fingers crossed!!

Also, please RSVP to the CSA dinner on the 2nd, if you haven't already! It will be lots of fun!!

Winter CSA is now available for purchase on Harvie, or you can give us a call and we will get you signed up! Space is limited to only 30 shares!
