Farm Happenings for July 16, 2019

Posted on July 12th, 2019 by Cathy Shepherd

This week, despite the heat, we have been able to plant most of the winter squash. We have two varieties of butternut, two types of spaghetti, delicata and blue hubbard squashes in the ground now. next week, we should be able to get all of the pie pumpkins planted. And did I tell you that we have seeded over 2,500 large pumpkins for carving?? We are a week or two behind on seeding fall kales and other brassicas, but it is starting to look like a good fall harvest. Now, and I can't believe I am about to say this after all the rain we have had this summer, if only we can get some rain!
