Posted on July 19th, 2021 by Tessa DeMaster

Summer vegetables begin to appear this week in small quantities.  CUSTOMIZE to see all the veggies and goodies available. Also see Special Offer below.

Harvesting: Eggplant, Cherry tomato, Cauliflower, Italian Basil, Romaine Lettuce, White Onions, Patty Pan Summer Squash, Red Russian Kale, Parsley, Cabbage, Pickling cucumbers, Green Summer Squash, Green Garlic, Beets, Cabbage. ***Sometimes we have limited amounts of the first harvests. If you love something above and didn't get any this time, change your preferences to mark that veggie as a "5" and others as something lower. NEW: Cherry Tomatoes will be a few this week and increase each day. Green Garlic is fresh, uncured garlic with a pungent flavor and more moist outer skin to peel. Cauliflower is a challenge to grow so we are very happy to offer it to you. Italian or Globe Eggplant is one of several varieties we grow. It is great for stuffing, roasting, parmesan, etc.

The next BIG CHALLENGE that Reuben and I are working on is also an AMAZING OPPORTUNITY for our family.

We're going to Rome!

Did you know that Farmer Reuben and six of our children are in a polyphonic choir that sings beautiful, sacred, Renaissance music by Palestrina, Byrd and Victoria? You can hear one of their pieces here and connect to others on Youtube.

They've been invited to Rome to sing for the 450th anniversary mass for Our Lady of Victory in the chapel of St. Pius V at St. Mary Major Basilica.

What an honor! What an opportunity to sing the most beautiful music in the world in such a glorious church! It is dream of a lifetime for Reuben that we want to share with our children.

To make this dream a reality, we invite you to our first ever Farm to Table Dinner to raise funds for our trip.

Of course, music will be provided by the Mary Immaculate Choir to allow you to experience a hint of what it will be like on this pilgrimage to Rome.

Hoping to amaze you with the taste of real food, just like in the "old country", we will serve a five course meal:

  • Appetizer: artisan cheese and...
  • Pasta: being planned
  • Meat & Vegetables: roasted pork, lamb and farm fresh veggies
  • Salad: being planned
  • Dessert: fromage blanc cheesecake, seasonal fruit

All this information will be posted on our website as well as updates and exciting details as our plan comes together. Only 70 tickets will be available so make your plans now to join us for a beautiful outdoor dinner on the farm. If you've ever enjoyed Pizza Night this will be 5x better!

SPECIAL SALE: If you order $30 of pantry items from us, we'll send you a free canvas bag with pocket.

Ordering EXTRAS from Willow Haven?  Items can be added right into your order after you customize your box. You do NOT have to place a separate FARM STAND order.

Let us know if you have any questions about your Farm Share CSA - we are happy to help.

We'll keep farming for you!
