It's pickle time!

Posted on July 3rd, 2021 by Tessa DeMaster

Harvesting: Kale, Parsley, Cabbage, Snap peas, Basil, Dill, Arugula, Pickling & Slicing cucumbers, Green & Yellow Sumer Squash, Lettuce, Radish, Kohlrabi, Beets, Collards. ***Sometimes we have limited amounts of the first harvests. If you love something above and didn't get any this time, change your preferences to mark that veggie as a "5" and others as something lower.

This is a great time of year to try fermenting your vegetables and making pickles. In this weather you can make a fresh fermented pickle or a mild sauerkraut in only 3 days! I use cabbage for sauerkraut, beets for pickled beets, pickling cucumbers for many kinds of pickles, radish for kimchi and kohlrabi for a variety of healthy probiotic ferments. This post will get you started with and fermenting: Beginner's Guide to Fermenting at Home and my post for Easy Fermented Cucumber Pickles.  If you want to buy Beets, Cabbage or Cucumbers in BULK for canning, pickling, fermenting, etc - just shoot us an email. If you need help pickling - let me know!

EXTRAS: New hot sauce is mild and tangy and won't burn you up even more! Made here at Willow Haven, our all Organic Buffalo Hot Sauce is sure to please your palette.  Did you know that this is in addition to our other homemade hot sauce?  That one is super HOT....why not try both and compare?!?

We still have plenty of organic strawberry preserves in case you missed it last week - $6/ half pint of incredible homemade preserves.
