Carrots Finally!

Posted on August 19th, 2019 by Reuben DeMaster

Carrots are like gold on the farm.  It is a very labor intensive crop that isn’t always successful on our farm because we don’t spray chemicals for weed control. This video shows my attempt at getting a few out of the ground to show you.  But the crew will be digging them properly later today. We have a huge bed of carrots ready and so we should be able to keep harvesting them for a couple weeks.

Today is going to be super hot but the farm family and crew is going to get some relief at a neighbor’s pool this evening. We take care to do the hard field work in the mornings so we can give our farm hands other jobs in the shade in the afternoons.  Shade jobs often include planting trays of seeds so we can extend our season into the fall and keep growing greens like lettuce and kale in the late fall.

We'll keep farming for you!
