Farm Happenings for October 24, 2018

Posted on October 22nd, 2018 by Ben Saunders

We've been watching the weather lately wondering when the low temps are going to drop putting an end to our field crops.  Last Saturday and the previous Saturday it got kind of close, but we knew the crops would make it through without any added protection.  Long story short, they made it through just fine with no harm done!

It was pretty great that your crops made it with no harm done these last 2 Saturdays, but we can't say the same for your Farmers!  On Saturday, October 13th your Farmers were in a serious accident!  Another vehicle ran a red light while we were headed back to to the Farm after market!  Our delivery vehicle was totaled but luckily everyone involved could walk away on our own two feet with just a few minor cuts but plenty shaken up mentally!  One second earlier into the intersection and the car would have slammed into the passenger door of our van and it could have been a whole lot worse!!!  But... if Farming has taught us anything it is to be able to adapt to the "cards" dealt and preserve!

This is the same mentality we are practicing while providing as much food to you all as we can!  The Fall Share is not going to play out like we planned last December but is still looking to be a solid share.  This week we are not going to offer Micro greens like was in our first "adaption plan" because the field planted greens are doing better than we expected considering their later planting date.  Besides a dip down into lower that expected night time temps, the weather this time of year has been fairly kind to us!!!
