Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer Season, Week 2, Delivery June 7th thru June 9th

---- Planting is Wrapping Up ----

This week we finished up with the last of our main season crop planting, winter squash. Took all day to get them done but they are in the ground finally. From here on out we should only have to do minimal plantings of beans, melons, cucumbers, broccoli, and leafy greens, because these are all succession crops.

---- Lettuce and Spinach ----

We harvested lettuce and spinach this week for the first time out of the field. It's coming on a little slow but with sunny weather and cooler temps, mid 70's highs/mid 50's lows, the greens are loving it. Both crops normally hate weather above 80 degrees just because it's too hot and makes them want to go to seed sooner.

---- Sprinkler is Running ----

We have turned on the sprinkler once again this year. While we are not in a drought it is still important that our plants get more than enough water to produce produce. We will see how long this lasts but as of right now we don't see any meaningful rain in the future. Any rain we do see is in the 30% to 50% chance range, and if we learned anything from last year. Don't trust the forecast and always be watering.

Thanks,
