Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer, Week 14, August 31 thru September 2

---- Rain ----

Well it finally happened, after almost 3 months of 24/7 watering we finally got some rain. About 2.5" in total for last weeks storms. It is allowed for some much needed rest on our part and our veggies are loving it. Looking forward to see if this continues or is just a flash in the pan.

---- Melon Amount Dip ----

You'll notice this week that there is a dip in watermelons and cantaloupes. The reason for this is our 1st and 2nd plantings are all picked through and our 3rd planting is about a week out from producing. So here's hoping next week melons return.

---- Tomatoes ----

We currently have tomatoes coming out of our ears so pick them up while they are still here. If everything goes to plan we should have tomatoes until first frost. But with the rain coming through, I know complaining about the rain is kind of ridiculous. But either way with the rain rolling though it does spread blight, which is a fungal disease that kill tomato plants. I've see a few plants affected but as of now the tomatoes are still going plenty strong.

Thanks,
Ian.
