Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer, Week 1, May 30

---- It's Summer! ----

Well worth the wait. The timely rains have really helped the early produce like lettuce, spinach and green onions. Asparagus is not so good this year - dry late summer and fall. That's the "fun" of farming, each year its something different that excells.

---- Eggs ----

We have increased our flock size so we will have plenty of eggs. They are now treated like produce, added to boxes according to your preferences. There should always be eggs in the swap area, so just add more if needed (or take out as needed). Remember, eggs are sterile - as long as in fridge, will last a month or two AFTER the "sell by" date. So no panic if you get a few too many one week.

---- Turnips ----

The last of the turnips from last fall are going out. Still nice. I like to peel the outer layer off, the treat them like a potato. Cube and mix half and half with fried potatoes. Or cut into turnip sticks and mix with carrot sticks.

Thanks,
Phil.
