Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer, Week 18, Sept 27

---- Watermelon ----

We did not get a good melon crop this year. Weeds and dry weather during transplanting really affected them. We do have some that made it. Yellow Doll, a small seeded yellow watermelon is really sweet. They are not very big, but they are a treat. Cut in half and eat out of the rind with a spoon. And hope that next year we do better!

---- Carmen Peppers ----

Long 4-6" cone shaped peppers. They look like they might be hot, but they are not. Nice pepper taste, especially the ones that turn red (always a challenge in Minnesota). They are my favorite sweet pepper.

---- High Tunnel ----

The lettuce is finally growing in the high tunnel. Just did not like the summer like heat we had earlier. Hopefully we have a nice sunny October to get them ready for out winter season.

Thanks,
Phil.
