Fall Share Week Two

Posted on October 1st, 2021 by Lorraine Blackwell

Happy Week Before Thanksgiving! If you are entertaining or visiting family, your shares are full of fall vegetables to enjoy with others and we have some fun additions in the 'Extras' section as well. Our 2021 Raw Wildflower Honey is now available! You will find it listed in 3 different sizes and if you like your honey when it's liquid, now is the time to buy it! Our organic apple crop this year is also fantastic - perhaps an apple crisp or pie is on the Thanksgiving menu. Also available this week (and only this week) are our concord grapes. The early fall always has some much to offer! For those that would like some turkey with their Thanksgiving dinner but don't need a whole turkey, we have both turkey breasts and thighs in a variety of sizes.

We had our first (light) frost this morning, which is 10 - 14 days later than average. At this time in the season it has little effect because the frost sensitive crops are already gone or under cover and the rest of the cold tolerant vegetables do just fine. For the rest of the season we are in bulk harvest mode and busy prepping the beds for the 2022 season. The last big job will be to plant the garlic for next year and that will happen in about two weeks.
