Fall Share Week 2

Posted on October 15th, 2020 by Lorraine Blackwell

I am sending this email out a day early because the weather is more suitable to office work today! This means I will get to spend the whole day tomorrow planting our 2021 garlic crop! I am doubling the quantity of garlic planted this year so I look forward to having extra to sell and to include it in shares more frequently next season.

This week will be the last week to score some tomatoes and peppers from the swap section: after this weekend I will be cleaning these remaining crops from the greenhouse in preparation for winter. There are also some new fall crops to enjoy this week: parsnips, celeriac, and winter radish!

Thank-you to everyone that has completed our year-end survey so far. For anyone still wishing to complete it, you can find it here. Once this season is done and I have a chance to catch my breath, all 2020 share members can expect an email in mid to late November with details of the 2021 season. As always, early registration will be open to 2020 members before I open it to the general public.

Those that received kale last week may have noticed that it was from Pfennings. Along with some of the winter squash, I decided to supplement my crops with some kale from Pfennings because our fall kale did not enjoy where I planted it and is not particularly big. This will be the last week for kale so be sure to grab some if it's a favourite!
