Welcome to Week 1 of the fall shares! A reminder to everyone that the fall season consists of 3 bi-weekly pickups of veggies. This means that you will receive veggies the weeks of Oct 5th, Oct 19th, and Nov 2nd. Mark your calendars!
This week there is an exciting addition in our 'Extras' section: our own organic apples! Over the last nine years that we have had the farm, Rob has been planting apple trees everywhere he can find a spot. We have just about every variety under the sun that will grow in our climate and the trees are just starting to produce. We have had a couple years of a handful of apples from each tree but this year we harvested about 120kg of apples. Now, we plan to save most of these apples for ourselves but we are selling a limited amount in 1kg bags to share members. These apples are a mix of heritage varieties, although most are in the MacIntosh family so you can expect that crisp, classic fall apple taste and texture. We look forward, in a few more years, when we can offer larger quantities of our organic apples.
For our new fall share members, you will also notice that there are a number of other 'Extras' available for purchase (scroll to the bottom of your 'Your Share is Ready for Customization' email to see the list). I thought I would outline them here so that you know more about this extras:
1. Raw Wildflower Honey - this is our delicious, farm produced honey and comes in 3 sizes.
2. Pastured Chicken - our pastured raised chickens are supplemented with a non-GMO feed and are available in a variety of cuts and sizes.
3. Eggs from Pastured Chickens - from our pastured layer hens.
4. Ferments - From a local producer, Funky Ferments, we carry Minced Jalapenos, Preserved Lemons, Rutabaga Kimchi, and Fermented Beets. All delicious!
5. 10lb Grassfed Beef Boxes - Raised by our friend Jared at Timberline Farms in Harriston, these boxes include a mix of grassfed beef cuts, such as: premium steaks, roasts, ground beef, and stewing cuts.
All of these extras can be purchased when you customize your share and will be automatically charged to your credit card on file. If your account has a credit, this will automatically be used first prior to charging your credit card.
