Week 13

Here in the picture you can see 3 rows of lettuce that are covered with a white fabric.--- and you can see 1 row without fabric-Any guesses why we're covering the lettuce? Insects? Decreased Temperature? Less sunlight? All of those are great benefits to this fabric... but the main reason we were using it was to protect the lettuce from deer- Great news--- the fabric was strong enough to keep the deer from stomping and tearing thru the fabric to eat the lettuce... Bad news--- the other row- 1500 heads of romaine--- completely destroyed by deer. We typically plant lettuce at our home farm- where we keep the dogs out in the field at night to deter the deer- which works most of the time- Except- as you might recall- the havoc the deer played on our strawberries-

Our kiddos are going back to school next week and I imagine some of yours are too. I hope that the transition goes well-

It's been so busy on the farm lately that we've been recruiting 6 teenagers from church to pack your shares for us- They've been doing a great job. However- if you do notice anything that's not right about your share- please reach out to me. We want you to be 110% happy each week with what you receive.

Sincere thanks

Ford
