Farm Happenings

Posted on June 9th, 2018 by Ford Waterstrat

What an exciting time of year. The strawberries are done for the season, but we're bringing you some more wonderful treats- cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes and carrots. Did you know that one of the most challenging crops for many farmers in our area is carrots. I'd love to chat with you about them sometime.

You may have seen some of the posts we've been making about land preparation for 2019 season. As organic farmers we want to improve the land and ecosystem as we farm it. We've been very busy preparing 20 more acres for 2019. We wont be increasing the amount of land that were growing vegetables on, but instead will be resting and rebuilding the farm land that we've farmed on these past  2 years.

So what other crops might you be seeing soon? Eggplant, green beans, watermelons, cantaloupe, bell peppers, sweet bite size peppers, onions, carrots sweet corn and potatoes should all make their appearances soon.

If you're interested in learning more ways to utilize your share, please consider joining our private FB cooking group. Just let me know and I'll add you to the group.

We hope you'r enjoying your farm shares! Best wishes, Ford
