Poor Strawberry Weather

Posted on June 6th, 2023 by Ron Meyer

The strawberries are ripe and delicious, but our crop is small this year thanks to cold weather in the spring and the current drought. Ron has been talking to the plants, encouraging them to do more (along with irrigating them), and they’re trying their best!

We have a limited amount of strawberries on the farm stand this week, and a couple of new items—mini heads of romaine lettuce and garlic scapes. Scapes are the curly flower stalks of the garlic plant, and when chopped up add a great early burst of garlic flavor to eggs, salads, and more.

Also available this week: arugula, salad mix, kale, garlic heads, fresh herbs, and new season strawberry jam. We also have farm fresh eggs, our own grass-fed beef, and local honey from Mullet Apiaries. Here's hoping for rain!
