Dry Start to Strawberry Season

Posted on May 30th, 2023 by Ron Meyer

It’s getting pretty dry, and Ron has been busy setting up drip irrigation lines for the strawberries and other crops. In the photo you can see black netting pushed to the side of the strawberry plants as he lays down the lines. We’ve had to cover them with netting because of birds picking off berries just before they’re ripe!

This week we have our first strawberries listed on the farm stand, but the supply is very limited. Hopefully the irrigation will keep them happy and producing! Also on the stand this week are radishes, arugula, kale, salad mix, garlic, fresh herbs and eggs. Plus local honey, strawberry and raspberry jam, and grass-fed beef. We still have a few tomato and pepper seedlings available as well.

Happy start to the summer, and here’s hoping for a little rain!
