Where Are the Strawberries/

Posted on June 8th, 2021 by Ron Meyer

Our strawberries are producing now, so why aren’t they listed on our online farm stand? Because of the uncertain weather this week, we can’t predict how many quarts we’ll have available on Thursday. If we get the constant rain that is in the forecast, most of the berries could rot in the field.

We will try to pick Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. If we’re able to do that, we will send you a text or email and you can order strawberries for Thursday’s delivery, putting payment for the berries in your return box.

We do have a new batch of strawberry jam for sale! Other items this week include eggs, romaine lettuce and salad mix, green onions, local honey, mint tea mix, fresh herbs, ground beef, tomato seedlings, and garlic scapes. See below for a recipe using scapes.

White Bean and Scapes Dip

1/3 cup sliced garlic scapes (3 to 4)
1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ tsp. coarse sea salt
Ground black pepper to taste
1 15-oz. can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

In food processor, finely chop garlic scapes with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Add beans and process to a rough purée. With motor running, slowly drizzle in olive oil and process till fairly smooth. Pulse in 2-3 tablespoons water, or more, until mixture is consistency of a dip. Spread out dip on a plate, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with more salt. Makes 1½ cups.
