We Still Need Rain!

Posted on July 28th, 2020 by Ron Meyer

We've had some rain in the past week at the farm, but only a few tenths of an inch. Some crops are still having a rough time. There's not much lettuce, and the green beans have shut down. It will take some time for them to produce beans again.

New this week: We have started digging potatoes and are offering quarts of mixed red, white and blue potatoes. The varieties are Carola, Adirondack Blue, and Adirondack Red. The red and blue potatoes are completely colored—not just the skins. They're so tender and tasty when freshly dug!

Also new this week are a few mixed flower bouquets. With a little rain plus irrigation, the zinnias, sunflowers and celosia are blooming nicely. We should be able to offer more bouquets in the next weeks. Slicing cucumbers are doing well, and we have added more to the list for this delivery. We also have some carrot bunches. They aren't the prettiest carrots (they had a rough life!), but they taste good.
