Hot, Dry Days of Summer!

Posted on July 21st, 2020 by Ron Meyer

It's been hot and dry on the farm for all of July, with only 4/10 inch of rain the whole month. It's taking a toll on our crops, especially the lettuce, mint, and green beans. Even though we irrigate for a couple hours each day, the high heat is "frying" things anyway. At least the berries are still doing well. We have an abundance of blueberries and blackberries this week, but no raspberries. They are done until the fall crop comes in.

We have more cucumbers this week, and our first sweet peppers—Carmen cornucopia-shaped peppers. The pepper plants are going strong in the heat, as well as the tomatoes. But no ripe tomatoes yet. We do have a few zucchini and summer squash. Join us in praying for rain!
