Farm Happenings for March, 20, 2019: the LAST Winter CSA Pick Up!

Posted on March 15th, 2019 by Robinette Farms

Thank you all so much for joining us on this journey of our inaugural Winter CSA!

This was an educational and fun experience for me as a grower to try and provide vegetables in the depths of winter. It has been a share full of greens, greens, greens and some roots! ;)

Truly this first experience has given us many ideas and strategies for expanding the variety we can offer year round, and has also given us better numbers to understand how much we should grow in the fall to store throughout the winter. We are already scheming for next winter!

We have 1 week off of CSA before the Spring share begins on April 3rd.

*If anyone is still interested we have 3 spots left, just email me if you want in!*

The snow melted this week and we are thankful that we only received 3/10ths of an inch of rain, minimizing some of the flooding on the farm. We are excited for a sunny and dry forecast for next week!

There is still quite a bit of frost in the ground so it will be a while until we can work the fields and begin planting, but this week we will be sure to get our ducks in a row for when the work begins with a quickness. Both tractors will get in the shop this week, and we will pull all of our implements out of the muck and make sure they have the grease and gear oil they need to work properly for us when the time comes.

Spring officially begins on Wednesday and ready or not, here we go!
