Farm Happenings for March 13, 2019: Week 9 of 10--your final or penultimate pick up!

Posted on March 8th, 2019 by Robinette Farms

Can you find Lancaster County in this picture?

We are in that dark royal blue color....precipitation for the last 3 months has been 300% above normal for us! It looks like it will be a wet spring once all this snow begins to melt!

We are down to the last 2 weeks of the Winter CSA, can you believe it?

If you have a bi-weekly share, this may be your last pick up of the season. Not sure? You can always login to your Harvie account and check your delivery schedule!

The Winter CSA was the kickoff of our new year-round CSA operating 46 weeks out of the year.

Here's the breakdown of the yearly CSA schedule:

  • Winter CSA: 10 weeks long, mid January through late March
  • 1 WEEK OF NO CSA
  • Spring CSA: 8 weeks long, April through late May
  • 1 WEEK OF NO CSA
  • Summer CSA: 16 weeks long, June through late September
  • 1 WEEK OF NO CSA
  • Fall CSA: 12 weeks long, October through mid December
  • 3 WEEKS OF NO CSA

This year-round format is one we have been scheming on for several years and we are excited to put it into full effect! We think this is the best way for our Members to understand how to eat with the seasons, and for those of you who are die-hard CSAers, this gives you a way to eat local for most of the year. Our Summer and Fall CSA seasons will still be the biggest because that's when we can actually grow the most things, but the challenge of storing crops and growing in the dark and cold of winter has been a real joy this year.

We are planning on having more events out at the farm this year and are looking forward to seeing you all out on the farm!

Enjoy the warmer weather and the MUD this week!
