Blueberries Now, Garlic Later

Posted on May 14th, 2021
We harvested our garlic this week and it's currently all hanging up at the farm. There's been so much rain recently, we were worried there'd be a lot of rot, but so far the bulbs are looking really good. We're excited to be able to put it into shares, but we'll have to wait a little longer until th1 read more »

Swamp Harvests and Season Extensions

Posted on May 10th, 2021
The amount of rain we've been getting is starting to feel a bit ridiculous. We're harvesting ankle deep in puddles, catching harvest buckets before they float away, and taking regular unwelcome breaks to shelter from lightning. It's not ideal, but we're going to keep it up for an additional 3 weeks1 read more »

Season Extension

Posted on May 7th, 2021
We're looking forward to a great share next week. Rockstar lettuce, a smattering of summer crops (including some cherry tomatoes from Faust Farm), bunching greens, roots, lots of herbs including basil, Compostella arugula, and more. We restocked the Powers honey because y'all bought us out of the f1 read more »

Farm Shares just got a little sweeter

Did you know that the term "Raw Unfiltered" for honey is not regulated and many grocery stores carry honey that's labeled as such but is actually pasteurized? We're pleased to now have local actually raw unfiltered honey available from Powers Apiary, a beekeeper based at Sugar Roots Farm, a neighbo1 read more »

Week Fifteen Milestone

Posted on April 26th, 2021
This is the first week we're not doing any greenhouse seeding. All the summer crops are in the ground or will be soon. We're gradually planting out the contents of the greenhouse - still a few secessions of hot peppers, cukes and squash, and a few other items that will be the last things we harvest1 read more »

Veg Fest

Posted on April 23rd, 2021
Well, Jazz Fest isn't happening this weekend, but Veg Fest keeps on rolling. Believe it or not, there are only five weeks left in our scheduled spring season. And we'll keep you posted about what happens in June. There will be veggies for you, we're just not sure yet if we're extending the share th1 read more »

When It Rains It Pours

Posted on April 19th, 2021
SO MUCH RAIN! While Kentucky St seems to be recovering well, we're still sloshing through puddles and mud pits on the west bank and may end up losing a lot of crops as the water table can take a long time to recede out there. Some things that look fine right now are likely to not be able to get eno1 read more »

Ready for Sunshine!

Posted on April 16th, 2021
We've been wading through puddles, huddling under shelter waiting out lightning strikes, and staring at our weather apps all week, and we're about ready to be done with it. Fortunately, it's looking like we'll catch a break from all the rain next week and we'll hope our fields can recover from the1 read more »
