Our Last Week of CSA shares - October 5th

Posted on October 1st, 2021 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Good evening, veggie box customers

This is my last farm newsletter of the season - always can't believe it! While it does fly by in many ways, I look at the photo above and think...wow, that feels like a lifetime ago! So much happens in a season, and we feel (I hope!) that we have tried to get so much done in such a short time. It's fast but it's full.

I will go over anything that's new this week: we have some radicchio! If you haven't tried it before, I highly recommend a roasting recipe (something with a balsamic reduction is amazing). It really softens the bitterness if you're not a bitter fan. But these are truly some of the stars of the show in the fall, that taste best this time of year. We also have a bit of spinach (sorry, not a ton!) and lots of winter squash in the regular share options this week. Many of the other usuals are still on the list. Here's hoping we don't get a killer freeze between now and next Tuesday!

REMINDER:

ALL pick-ups will be at Mint & Lime on Tuesday, October 5th because the Tuesday evening market is done for the season! So if you were a market pick-up, you will find your share there next week. Home deliveries are the same.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you so so much for supporting the farm this year. CSA programs are truly unique in how they support farms, and strengthen local food systems. I think we will need them more than ever in the coming years, and you play a huge part in ensuring that happens. I hope you feel you received value for your investment, and if not, please let me know! Your willingness to invest in the farm means a lot to me, so it's important to me that you're happy.

I also want to give a huge shout out to those young ladies in this week's photo. They were an awesome farm crew this year: not only did they work very hard to get you your veggies, but they did it with a lot of love and appreciation. They truly cared about the health of the farm and its crops, and I feel like we're all lucky we had them on board this year!

Thank you all again, so much, for either signing up again as a return Puddle Produce Farm CSA customer, or trying it out for the first time. Your support makes all the difference.

Your Farmer,

Brianna
