Hello everyone, and welcome to another Puddle P newsletter that is promising to NOT talk about the heat this time! :P
We have a couple new crops this week: lovely new red potatoes from Silver Birch Farm on West Fraser Rd. These are perfect, thin-skinned potatoes that are small to medium size. Earl of Silver Birch Farm is not certified organic but he uses zero chemical inputs on his farm. We will also be getting some white potatoes from him in a few weeks.
The leeks are also ready! Which will go well with the potatoes. I just love having leeks in the freezer to use all winter. I slice them up in my food processor and freeze. Nice alternative to scallions or if you run out of cooking onions. We also have one more round of fennel ready and are expecting garlic any day now!
SEPTEMBER 7TH BOXES ARE MOVING
We are having a family wedding here on the farm on September 5th, so I have arranged to bump the boxes to Wednesday, September 8th instead of Tuesday the 7th. It will make it easier to get the boxes ready in time after the weekend clean-up. Hope this is ok for everyone! Especially if some of you are taking an extra day off.
So ALL CSA shares other than home deliveries will be at Mint&Lime by 12:30 on September 8th! Home deliveries will be done on the 8th as well.
